Art Autumn – Autumn Art – Autumn of Art
The Friedrich Loeffler Institute located on the island of Riems, near the city of Greifswald, was founded by the institute’s namesake in 1910 as a virology research institute. This year the institute is dedicating a new building with an accompanying open air sculpture by Barbara Trautmann – sure to be an eye-catcher.
Two hundred sculptural pieces, each 27.5 inches high (700 mm) and each an icosahedron (a polyhedron with 20 triangular faces), will be arranged in a geometrical pattern, firmly planted in the island’s soil. It will be a spectacular sight.
New art appears in the capital city of Berlin, too.
The formerly gloomy S-Bahn bridge underpass on Bleibtreustrasse, in Berlin-Charlottenburg, now has a light installation by artist Alexander Kuhnert. With the installation’s spectacular new lighting effects, passersby now gladly walk through this underpass-promenade.
220 illuminated LED tubes in the colors of magenta and green effectively create the walkway’s new ring of lights.
